Soldier's Quest to Conquer Everest

Old Trident Major Keith Reesby (Blake House, Class of 1995) and his friend from his Sandhurst days, former England rugby star John Lewsey, have set off on an epic expedition to conquer the world’s most formidable peak, Mount Everest.

Keith, who has recently served in both Afghanistan and Iraq, is completing this 73-day challenge in support of the Help for Heroes Charity, something that Trent pupils have recently supported too. Keith notes that ‘I’ve seen a lot of injuries first-hand and it made me want to do something for the veterans’.

The idea of climbing Everest arose in 2006 when Keith went on a trek with Lewsey, climbing up to the base camp of K2, the world’s second-highest mountain. The two men have trained in the Alps, going on to tackle Cerro Aconcagua in the Andes in February this year.

Keith will be updating a blog of his epic adventures which can be found at www.mounteverestclimb2010.com.
